Growing in the Light of Christ
School resumes Monday, Feb. 22nd, after a week of winter weather that will go down in the history books. Below are considerations for each family prior to your student(s) returning to school:
When Should You Keep Your Child Home from School?
The following guidance is from our COVID Task Force composed of doctors, nurse, and nurse practitioner:
1) OLG students should be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 prior to reporting to school each morning.
2) Students should stay home if they are experiencing any symptoms of illness, or if anyone in their household has any symptoms.
3) Students should also stay home if anyone in their household is waiting on COVID-19 test results.
4) If a student needs to be tested for COVID-19, please take him/her to your primary care physician, and stay home until the appointment time.
Please note that if you sought refuge in the home of a friend or family member (due to utility outages) , or opened your home to others outside your normal household, please consider the health conditions of these individuals as well. For example, if someone who stayed with you, developed COVID-like symptoms within 48 hours of the stay, your home may need to quarantine if the results confirm that it is a COVID case. If you have any questions or concerns about a potential exposure situation, please contact the OLG COVID Task Force Team for guidance. Their email is COVIDinfo@olgmariners.org .
Also, due to the current water situation in Port Lavaca, we are asking each student to bring 2 (16oz) bottles of drinking water to school on Monday for his/her own personal consumption. The cafeteria will be serving Hot Dogs for lunch on Monday, but we do not expect to have milk yet (we are on the list for delivery but milk providers are struggling to restock).
As for making up the days missed, we are waiting for guidance from the State and Diocesan authorities. As soon as we have their input, we will utilize our bad weather days as needed and provide you with an updated calendar.
Thank you for your support of OLG's health and safety protocols during this unusual time. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday and getting back to the classrooms.
Your servant in Christ,
Theresa M. Dent, Principal
